Solution When opening psp7 the first time under VIEW then select TOOLBARS check STANDARD TOOLBAR, TOOL PALETTE, COLOR PALLET, STATUS BAR, TOOL OPTIONS PALETTE, LAYER PALETTE AND OVERVIEW WINDOW. Check at bottom the two in the middle, Display flat style and Enable auto roll-ups. Then close and move the drop down bars that you will see to the side out of the way to the right.

1. Under FILE select OPEN and select the picture you want to edit. Highlight that picture then select OPEN

2. Under EDIT then COPY make a copy of your picture. Close out the original. Crop around the av picture with the square tool on tool bar. No need to get real close to edges of the av. go to IMAGE then CROP TO SELECTION to take away excess back round. Then EDIT and COPY.

3. Under IMAGE select IMAGE INFORMATION to find size

4. Select FILE then NEW. make the width and height size LARGER then your picture size. Under BACK ROUND COLOR use the drop down menu to select TRANSPARENT. Select OK

5. Select your transparent back round to make active. Then under FILE, PASTE AS NEW LAYER place your picture on that back round. Use the dotted square tool on the toolbar to draw a box a little way away from the outside edge of av, it will make the shape of a square. It's better to not get real close so have working room.

6. Click on dotted SQUARE tool on toolbar on right. Click on the new image to make active and draw a square around outside of pic area, leaving some extra space on outside. Then select IMAGE, CROP TO SELECTION

7. Select the LASSO on the toolbar, in the TOOL OPTIONS BOX for the lasso tab, dropdown menu should be set POINT TO POINT AND FEATHER 1

8. Increase the size of the pic ( VIEW zoom in to 1 - 5 you can do this multiple times till can see the edge clearly).

9. Select the LASSO, start at the outer edge each time you click around just barely inside the edge of the av it will stick each time you click, then circle on the outside back around to starting position and join to that starting point by right clicking. Hit the delete key to erase.

NOTE: Clicking in very small sections around the edge of the av just barely inside (see diagram) this will give you a smooth edge with no white spots. To join click off the pic area and click along back to the starting point then right click. (You will see ants) Hit delete key to erase all on the inside of the ants.

10. Remove inner areas the same way be careful to follow the natural line of the inner area. Join to beginning and hit delete key to erase.

11. You then select the dotted square on toolbar and "draw" a square as close as possible around the outside of the av. Then under IMAGE select CROP TO SELECTION.

12. Under file SAVE AS select where you want the av to go.
Name your av, in drop down menu for file type select PNG then OPTIONS at the bottom. Put a dot (.) beside INTERLACED and OPTIMIZED PALLETTE then select RUN OPTIMIZER

In pop up box select USE WIZARD.

Next popup box select 13.7 Million Colors (24 bit) hit NEXT.

In the PNG WIZARD box make sure a dot is by ..Convert matching colors to transparent.

IF your back round in the box with the pic does not show transparent place your pointer over that back round area of your av.

It will turn to a eye dropper that picks up that color. Click to set color.

Then hit NEXT twice as you check that your back round is now transparent in popup box.

Click FINISH. Next box click SAVE.
